Sainte Croix des Neiges school has developed a network of local and national partners. As a Government-funded private Catholic school, our establishment comes under the management of the Diocese of Annecy and has its own management organisation, the OGEC.
Founded in 1948 by Abbot Jean de Clarens, Sainte Croix des Neiges is a Government-funded Catholic school that welcomes children aged 3 to 22.
Situated in Abondance, a village in Haute-Savoie, about an hour from Geneva and two hours from Lyon, Sainte Croix des Neiges welcomes children from France and around the world, whatever their origin. The full-time boarding facilities for pupils during the week and weekends, will move to a new building at the end of this year.
The educational mission of our staff is to reject habit, renew how we regard others, invigorate experience and keep the flame burning. This is passed on to our pupils so that they may succeed and build their futures as self-sufficient adults. We thereby respond to the expectations of parents.
This website will help you discover our school and the ideal setting in which it is situated. Our Headmaster – Jean-Luc Bergeret – is available for your enquiries. Please do not hesitate to contact him.
With my very best wishes.
Xavier Salaün
President

The Bishop (Monseigneur Yves Boivineau) is responsible for Catholic Teaching in the Diocese of Annecy. He has delegated his authority to Mr. Marc Héritier, Diocesan Director of Catholic Teaching. The trusteeship is responsible for the missionary aspect of the Catholic school. It appoints the Headmaster, gives him general guidelines and offers its support. The Trusteeship Council therefore takes an interest in the decisions taken by the school in order to comprehend the results and check that they are coherent with the diocesan initiative, in terms of the methods used for teaching, educating and living together.
The trusteeship ensures that the educational initiatives are explicitly founded on the Gospel and followed according to its spirit; it ensures that the school’s educational mission is carried out with pedagogical and scientific excellence, seeking inter-faith dialogue, reason and culture, and that the attitudes and relationships of people in the school community are inspired by the Gospel Ethic”
(Art. 183 of the Catholic Teaching Statutes)
Subject to the diocesan trusteeship of Annecy since 2007, the school responds through its action and the Headmaster is entrusted with the responsibility of implementing the educational and teaching mission.
Recognised by the Church as a Catholic School, Sainte Croix des Neiges enjoys a privileged relationship with the Val d’Abondance Parish and its priest, for all things involving its pastoral mission and “offer of the Christian Faith whose [Headmaster] who is responsible before the trusteeship authority” (Art. 149 of the Catholic Teaching Statutes)
The APEL is France’s biggest parent association. It is also the only recognised parent association in the Catholic Teaching Statutes.
The Haute-Savoie UGSEL is an association whose mission is to promote, direct and coordinate physical education, sport and cultural and leisure activities in the schools of the 1st and 2nd level of Catholic Teaching in Haute-Savoie
Our association also aims to promote the various partners and players involved in local life in the Abondance valley.
