The Saint-Maurice school comes under the Diocese of Annecy and is located in the centre of the village of Abondance, in a mountain setting. It is the only private primary school in the Abondance valley. Originally located in La Chapelle d’Abondance, the Saint-Maurice school moved to the Sainte Croix des Neiges site in 2009 and merged with the school in September 2014.
The school has 3 classes for pupils aged 2 to 12. The staff and multi-level classes provide a study environment where teachers have close contact with the pupils, generating a family atmosphere. Each child receives special, individual attention to help them develop.
Since private schools are not required to comply with the timetable reform, our school has maintained the traditional four-day week. The teaching and management staff of the Saint-Maurice school have chosen this schedule in order to provide individual assistance, primarily for children with specific needs, but also to introduce numerous initiatives such as theatre and film sessions.
The Saint-Maurice school offers a range of cultural and sports activities. Our aim is to open up the classroom and stimulate the pupil’s curiosity by working with them on themed half days throughout the year, respecting the values of living together.
The academic staff make every effort to inject enthusiasm in the school by organising various initiatives, such as joint-learning sessions with 10-11 year-old pupils from CM2 and 11-12 year-old collège pupils from 6ème, to accommodate the new academic programmes.
